AIMA Shipwreck Photographic Competition

2. Competition info
ENTRY OPEN: 1st December 2009 – 31st March 2010 (at 5pm AEST) – received by that date!
ENTRY TYPE: mail (CD/DVD/print)
ENTRY FEE: free
3. What should photos be about?
> Categories
There are 3 categories available:
- Shipwrecks above water – Any image taken that includes an image of a shipwreck, or part thereof from, above the water, with or without people in the image.
- Shipwrecks underwater with divers – Any image taken that includes an image of a shipwreck, or part thereof, with divers in the picture.
- Shipwrecks & Nature – Any image taken that includes an image of a shipwreck and marine life.
You must submit images in at least two different categories to be eligible for “overall winner” prize!
Maximum 3 images per category.
No image may be entered in more than one category.
Photos are entered and judged separately in the following 3 divisions:
- professional photographers
- amateurs
- schools (all people under 18 after 31st March 2010)
4. Photo Requirements
AREA WHERE IT CAN BE TAKEN: all shipwrecks photographed must be in Australian or New Zealand waters
AGE OF PHOTO: Images taken prior to 1 December 2009 are not eligible.
IMAGE FORMAT: Entries can consist of Transparencies (35 mm) taken with any lens configuration transferred to digital format or images taken with a digital camera. Digital entries must be: min 300 dpi, TIFF format, min size 150mm x 100 mm (or 6 inch x 4 inch). All digital entries are to be supplied with a printed A4 sized copy on quality photographic paper for display at the 2010 AIMA Conference.
PHOTO EDITING: Enhancing accepted.
Previously published images in print media or winning entries (1st, 2nd and 3rd) from other competitions are not eligible.
5. Legal Issues

You must be sole author and owner of the copyright of all pictures entered.
Entrants must comply with the Commonwealth Historic Shipwrecks Act 1976 and relevant State shipwreck protection legislation and not damage, interfere with or remove any part of a shipwreck or its associated artefact assemblage.
Unnecessary harm or harassment of marine life is not permitted. Any image depicting – or suspected of involvement in – such harm may be disqualified.
> Photo usage rights
Copyright of images remains with the entrant however the entrant grants permission to AIMA and to the Commonwealth, presently represented by the Department of the Environment, Water, Heritage and the Arts (DEWHA), for the reproduction and exhibition (with appropriate attribution) in all media (now known or hereafter created, inclusive of the internet) of all entries, including any future public display, for the promotion and publicity of AIMA and the protection and conservation of historic shipwrecks in Australia and any associated competitions.
The permission granted to the DEWHA remains valid only for the period that expires one month after the announcement of winning entries, unless extended with the agreement of the entrant.
6. Judging
JUDGES: There is no information who the judges are.
JUDGING CRITERIA: There is no information how the photographs will be judged.
7. Prizes
Overall winner: Mike Ball Dive Expedition 3 Day dive trip to Cod Hole for 2 people
Category winners (for each division separately): one of the below prizes:
- Mask snorkel and fin package from Dive Rite
- INTOVA IC600 Camera and housing
- One years membership to HDS SEAP and a book
- Two Nights accommodation and one day charter trip to the Yongola site for one person with Yongala Dive
- One day charter for two people to Wolf Rock with Wold Rock Dive Centre
- Day charter for one person with Nautilus Scuba Centre Toowong
- Navy pier double dive for two with Ningaloo Reef Dreaming
- One day charter for one person with Hulls Complete Boating Services
- One day charter for one person with Eaglehawk Dive Centre
